Stock Lending & Borrowing Mechanism (SLBM) is a facility which allows investors to earn on their idle shares. It is a scheme of lending and borrowing shares through the exchange platform and which is permitted in dematerialized form only. It is an opportunity for the lender to earn a lending fee for the stocks lent and borrower to get temporary loan of stocks which they do not own. Here the lender can be a retail investor, HNI investor, insurance companies, banks or mutual funds. The borrower can be retail investor, HNI investor, arbitrager, short seller or a market maker.

No need to issue cheques by investors while subscribing to IPO. Just write the bank account number and sign in the application form to authorise your bank to make payment in case of allotment. No worries for refund as the money remains in investor's account.

Investors should avoid practices such as
a) Sharing of trading credentials – login id & passwords including OTP’s.
b) Trading in leveraged products like options without proper understanding, which could lead to losses.
c) Writing/selling options or trading in option strategies based on tips, without basic knowledge & understanding of the product and its risks.
d) Dealing in unsolicited tips through Whatsapp, Telegram, YouTube, Facebook, SMS, calls, etc.
e) Trading in “Options” based on recommendations from unauthorised / unregistered investment advisors and influencers.

KYC is one time exercise while dealing in securities markets - once KYC is done through a SEBI registered intermediary (broker, DP, Mutual Fund etc.), you need not undergo the same process again when you approach another intermediary.
